Het Laatste Dorp

An interactive horror story in ten episodes. A Tuesday afternoon that changes everything.

Pure text 10 episodes 20+ hours iOS August 2026

A Tuesday afternoon. Something appears above the city. Within hours, everything is different.

A present-day village in the south of the Netherlands. Fourteen thousand people. The city next to it is gone. Simply gone. The village is sealed off. Nobody gets in. Nobody gets out.

What follows isn't a hero's journey. There's no escape. No cavalry. No secret weakness of the enemy. Just a village full of people slowly coming to understand that they are the last. And what they discover about themselves along the way.

Een boek dat terugkijkt. A book that looks back.

  1. Pure text

No illustrations. No character portraits. Only words, typography, colour and ambient sound. You hold the story in your hands like a book that looks back at you.

  2. Shifting perspective

You play in turn from the perspective of different villagers. Each with their own voice, their own colour, their own angle on the same catastrophe. Who you follow depends on what you choose.

  3. Final choices

Every choice is permanent. No rewinding, no save-scumming. Once a choice is made, the alternatives are gone. The game saves and moves on. Just like life.

  4. Ten episodes, one slow descent

Each episode dismantles a layer of hope. Choices grow narrower. The village grows smaller. And the question drifts, slowly, from "how do we survive?" towards something you would rather not say out loud.

Caput · Waarom dit anders is Caput · Why this is different
  • Horror that escalates across 20+ hours

Not a jumpscare carnival. A slow strangling. The fear doesn't come from a monster in the corner. It comes from the realisation that, each episode, there's one door fewer.

  • Human cruelty as the second layer of horror

What people do to each other under pressure is at least as frightening as whatever hangs above them. Sometimes worse.

  • No hero. No hope. No way out.

The most honest horror story you will ever play. No redemption as a reward for persistence. No secret good ending. Only: how do we carry what is?

  • Brabant as the setting

Recognisable, everyday, and precisely for that reason all the more unsettling. This does not happen in a distant country or a fictional city. This happens at a crossroads you could know.

In the spirit of

If you felt at home in the intimacy of Lifeline, the patient menace of A Dark Room, the fragmentation of House of Leaves, or the slow exhale of José Saramago's Blindness. Het Laatste Dorp might be something for you.

Not a copy, not a sequel. Its own creature, raised in the same neighbourhood.

For adults
