Quietly continuing
Quiet is not the same as still. It’s been quiet here for a while. That doesn’t mean nothing was happening.
Honestly: I got stuck on Het Laatste Dorp. Not on the story, that’s written. On the app around it. And that’s not a small thing. The app has to do what I want it to do, or the version of HLD I have in mind simply won’t reach the screen. Perspectives that succeed one another, choices that only surface three episodes later, a village that remembers what you did. That only works if the machinery underneath is right.
So I turned the heat down. Not off, down. That matters to me. I’d rather deliver something later that I stand behind than deliver on time and then have to talk around it. The remaining episodes are coming, as free updates, as promised. Just not on a schedule I invented for the sake of having one.
Meanwhile the work continues. SOLUS is running: an episode every Friday, for a year. A local model left running by accident, with one task: keep the plant alive. And if you’re after something else to read in the meantime, Veld is there. A story in letters, where you write back.
Moving between projects isn’t scattering. It’s how I get the energy back for the work I was stuck on. Pushing through with gritted teeth doesn’t make the prose better.
More when there’s more to say.
